Jews for Jesus Lawsuit
Jews for Jesus are suing the city of Pontiac, Michigan for preventing them from distributing pamphlets at the Arts, Beats and Eats festival over the Labor Day weekend. The group which is officially “Congregation Schema Yis-Rael of Bloomfield Township,” filed its lawsuit in U.S. District Court for Detroit, charging Pontiac police used its authority to violate the group’s First Amendment rights.” According to the Oakland Press, the group was standing on the corner of Saginaw and Water streets and were approached by the Police Chief Valard Gross, and Captain Robert Miller who informed the group that they could not pass out pamphlets because the festival organizers did not want patrons hassled.
